Couples and Families

Family therapy can be helpful in decreasing conflict, addressing painful topics and assisting parents in managing their children's behavior efficiently. Many issues are most effectively addressed as a family because they have an impact on everybody. It is a supportive and empowering process that builds on strengths and encourages members to work collaboratively. Family members learn to identify deeper emotional issues contributing to family interactions, and they are provided with the guidance necessary to restore a sense of balance and contentment. By building trust and positive communication, families gain a better understanding of each other’s actions.

Couples therapy allows for new and more intimate ways of communicating. Emotions and attachments are explored, and the couple learns tools to improve communication. Many couples become stuck in negative ways of relating to each other, and they find it difficult to navigate certain topics. They may avoid conflict and build resentment over time. Couples therapy is a way to restore trust in a safe environment while learning to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts. It is a supportive, emotionally-focused atmosphere with an emphasis on improving future functioning of the couple.
