The Initial Meeting (90 minutes) is for discussing the history and background of the child, adolescent or adult client. All adults involved in the client’s life are welcome, and adolescents 16 years and older may attend if you are comfortable discussing issues in front of them. Preschool and elementary school children should not be present at the first meeting since it will invalidate the school observation. Please bring school records and previous evaluations. Please see information regarding Evaluation Fees and required deposit. Credit card payments are also accepted for the full evaluation fee.
The School Observation (60 minutes) is for a child in preschool or elementary school. Observations are conducted 8:30-9:30 am or 10:30-11:30 am. Although it shows online as 8:00 or 10:00, this is so we have a half hour to drive to the school, sign in at the office and find the classroom. Please do not tell your child about the observation. Please do not schedule this observation for clients in middle school, high school or college.
The Psychological Testing (110 minutes) sessions are individual meetings with the client. Please schedule four sessions. Young children generally do better when evaluated in the morning. Please make sure the client is healthy, well fed and well rested on testing days.
The Final Meeting (90 Minutes) is a time to review the results and recommendations of the evaluation. This meeting is for all involved parents, and we do not recommend having children attend the meeting except for adolescents 16 years and older. A draft of the evaluation report is available at this meeting. This meeting must be scheduled at least seven days after the last psychological testing session. If rating scales are not returned by parents or teachers, it may delay the final meeting date.
The Adolescent Feedback (30 Minutes) is a time for the evaluator to review the results with an adolescent if he or she does not attend the final meeting. This enables the adolescent to review feedback without having them read the full report which includes sensitive information, such as IQ scores. This meeting must be after the parent meeting.
The School Meeting (70 to 90 Minutes) is for any type of school meeting other than the classroom observation, and it is billed separately from the evaluation flat rate. This appointment type is used for SST, CST, 504 and IEP meetings. Please note that the appointment time begins at our office, and adequate time for travel should be included. It is important to negotiate the exact time and location of the meeting with the evaluator by e-mail.
A Parent Consultation (90 Minutes) is only for parents who have already had a comprehensive evaluation at The Pratt Center. During this time, information may be updated and plans may be refined. For new families, please book an initial meeting instead.
